I've read an interesting article about the job hunting in USA recently. Here is the interesting part that I think would be helpful.
In USA, the average job search now takes 27 weeks now (19 weeks for last year). Given the long job hunting cycle, you need to change your tactics.
1. Expand the job search options by looking at employers in different but related industries or different positions in the same field.
2. These days, lower your salary expectations won't help. It is more like dropping the price of a house if it's been on the market for a long time.
The world has changed and you need to change with it as well. What you need to do is to update your skills. Take a look at potential employers' websites and see the job descriptions. Compare the skillset companies are looking for with your job experience. If you see you are missing some skills, take a training class or study by yourself to fill in any gaps.
