Slicehost is good, at least I got notifications when there is trouble with the service
This morning JiansNet is down for about an hour due to the hosting company (slicehost)'s issue with the vps server. Now it is back online. Initially I was wondering about why the site couldn't be accessed. Then I got a response from the hosting company slicehost.com as follows:

The server your slice was on became unresponsive to our monitoring at 15:31 UTC and a emergency reboot was required.
Slices were restarted and are running, however we will be montoring this machine for further trouble.
Please note this was a server issue and your Slice activity was not a causal factor.
We'll notify you should further action be required.
We apologize for this downtime and please contact us if you have any questions.

I must say, I am happy with slicehost mainly from the fact that they communicated with a customer like me in time about the problem, not leaving me out in the cold and unknown.
I think when selecting hosting companies, price is one thing, but support and service is also crucial. Because any site you are running needs to be 24x7. So, the level of service and good communication from the hosting company is a big factor. The bottom line is, don't go cheap but go with quality hosting service.
So far I am still a happy customer with slicehost hosting service.
