For anyone getting older, here are some thoughts I have for work and living happily. The fact is, when you are getting older, you just can't rely on corporate to make a living. Mainly:

--There will always be younger people that can claim your position
As you have a family and kids to attend, you will find that you don't want to work overtime, even though the company pays you or offer free dinner.

--There is this sense of lacking control
When you get more experienced in your job, you will naturally want to have a bigger say over the features for projects. But, you often will be bound to what the boss wants. You could end up doing some nasty projects you don't like.

--Projects may not be fun anymore
Even if you are doing some job that's nice and easy, but you might feel bored as you've done it for too long.

The nice fact of starting up a personal business or any biz, say, consulting business, is that you have control. You are not at the mercy of any employer to earn your living. So, that's the way I look at it.

Agree! After serving in the current company for almost 4 yrs, I feel I am not motivated and have no momentum for "promotion". I want to pursuit the freedom financially and spiritually.
