Free Game Guide
BTD5 is a common game that is highly addictive, released in the middle of November last year. Wouldn't being one of the monkeys in the game be cool, excluding the part where you would have to fight the evil bloons. With lots of different towers, Bloons Tower Defense 5 is a game YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS!

For anyone interested in alternatives to BDT5 game, please see Best Games Similar to BDT5.

IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS PLEASE POST THEM AT BTD5 Discussion

The popular free game BDT5 was created by Ninja Kiwi in December 2011.With over 35,000 hits and counting, Bloons Tower Defense 5 is a fun game challenging players to pop as many bloons as possible while trying not to lose lives. The levels begin to increase in difficulty as you progress. Money also gets tighter when you start playing in Freeplay Mode.

==Towers and Upgrades==
The upgrades for each tower have two paths.Due to the special third and fourth upgrades, they can only be used on one of the upgrade paths. The upgrades do what all tower defense upgrades do;Improve the tower. The upgrades all need to be unlocked, especially the last upgrade. The last upgrade requires you to unlock it first, then again when you have reached the specific rank for the tower (I.E Super Monkey-Rank 32).

==History==
BTD5 evolved from Btd4, which in turn evolved from BTD3, and so on and so forth.BTD5 was published a long time after the well-known game bloons came out.The monkey-popping-a-whole-bunch-of-bloons game then turned out to be very popular. When BTD was published, it came out to be VERY popular. Then came a sequel, then another, then still another! BTD3 was really popular then, and popularity jumped when BTD4 came out. Then it came out.Two new towers, the Dartling Gun and the Spike Factory. After about four years of waiting, BTD5 finally came out!It was here. Now they just added the Meerkat Spy, making it more awesomer. Now, if you are logged in, you can get free Monkey Money, making BTD5 an awesome game. However it's awesomeness, there are a few glitches. When they created BTD5, Ninja Kiwi made a change to the way your progress is stored, making your saved data not as reliable. However, things lightened up when Ninja Kiwi created the NK login, protecting your progress.More Updates will be added, so keep coming back for free new updates for BTD5.

==Common Strategy==

STRATEGY 1: Boomerang and Tack
A simple yet easy beginning is to buy a Tack Shooter and a Boomerang Thrower until round 8, where you buy a Banana Farm. Through the rounds 10-19 you need a Bomb Cannon for backup and to get rid of the pesky Leads and Regrowths. Then you will find yourself needing a Super Monkey to destroy the MOAB. The 40's are hard, but you should be able to make it with some upgrades for the Super Monkey. The 50's through the 70's are difficult, but with the line of Brown Bloons, you should be able to complete round 75. Beware round 85 because the ZOMG comes then.Round 86-90 made my computer crash after that, so I have no idea how to complete Round 90.

STRATEGY 2: Choke Point
Always start your levels with easy mode to get the in game cash. First find a choke point on the map where you can hit multiple bloons with the tack/ice tower. Then nearby, place a ninja tower where it can still hit the choke point.
For easy mode you will still have enough cash to place a glue gunner at the beginning area of the level. As you progress, spend all of your money on getting corrosive glue for the gunner. Once you have got this, buy the path 2 upgrades for it. GET THE GLUE SPLATTER ASAP, THIS TOWER WILL GO ON FROM A HELP TO A GODSEND IF YOU GET THIS UPGRADE. Your Glue Gunner with corrosive will let you get rid of lead and your ninja will take out any camo for now. You are relatively safe.
Once you have enough money, upgrade the ninja tower so you have 2 upgrades on each path.
Then get a Dart Monkey and place it near to the choke point somewhere where it may hit a bunch of bloons in a line. Get it up to the Spike O' Pult.
Next concentrate on AoE towers, tack is what I often go for first. Place it on the choke point and level it up at your pleasure, aiming for path 1 upgrade primarily.
Then spend money on an ice tower and Boomerang Thrower at the choke point. For these two you MUST level up for path one as the Glaive lord, Ring of Fire and Arctic Wind/Viral Frost will eliminate any and all bloons in the area. Don't level these up too far for now though.
Next make sure to get a Spike factory right at the end of your map, just as insurance.
From now it is really up to you as to what towers you place, you want all of your towers to be able to hit that choke point where the bloons will be glued, iced, boomeranged constantly, being set on fire, exploded and generally destroyed.
TIPS: A good investment first will be a MOAB Mauler as this set up isn't very good against MOABS to start with (Although once your choke is properly set up, you should have no problem.) If you are going for the Wizard, go straight for Firebreath and have him very close to the choke. I am a huge fan of Artillery too, and either path should be ok. Do not waste money on snipers as they are expensive as hell and really aren't that useful once hundreds of bloons are pouring out.

STRATEGY 3: Fire and Ice
So yeh, this is basically just starting with an monkey apprentice and upgrading it on path two, then it starts to get cool. When fire and ice mix, it just means a whole lot of poppage for the bloons. The ice slows them an the fire pops them, providing instant victory.

I will keep updating this list, so keep coming back for new updates! Eventually there will be a Upgrades section, but that will only be released if I have enough information with the help of all the BTD5 fans out there! :)
2. Gamerichie 2012-01-01 11:28
Another word from the creators.

If you want more info, than help by adding comments with information!

This game becomes difficult the higher you get, so come here for a break from playing the game while you read the guide for some help :-)
3. drake 2012-01-07 11:34
how do you pop camo-lead bloons? besides pinaples
4. Gamerichie 2012-01-07 12:32
Drake, in order to pop a Camo-Lead bloon, put a Bomb Cannon in the range of a Sonar tower. The Cannon will pop the bloon as many layers as possible. You can use a Ninja monkey or Ninja Monkeys to get rid of the entire bloon.
5. Gamerichie 2012-01-07 13:48
Oh, and Drake, make sure you have plenty of Ninja Monkeys due to the fact they are extremely strong in groups.
6. Nooms 2012-01-09 04:24
Where can I find the Sonar Tower?
7. Nooms 2012-01-09 04:44
Ohhh... stop looking. I found it :) It's a Monkey Village upgrade! I should've thought of that. Thanks for the great guide. I think I'll leave it open for a while until I discover all the new stuff!
8. Gamerichie 2012-01-11 20:48
Nooms, don't forget about the 8 upgrades each tower has. The 1st and 2nd ones in each path can both be upgraded, but you can only choose one path for the 3rd or 4th upgrades (provided you have unlocked all of the upgrades. Happy playing!:)
9. Gamerichie 2012-01-15 13:39
Oh yeha, and umm... the sonar tower is actually the radar scanner.
10. Gamerichie 2012-02-19 13:04
To complete Level 42, you need at LEAST one of the below:

-Lazor Vision Super Monkey with a Radar Scanner nearby.
-Dragon's Breath Monkey Apprentice
-Two or more Glaive Lords
or
-Tempest Tornado Monkey Apprentice
11. Gamerichie 2012-03-24 21:07
The new Monkey Village path one upgrade is shown, and here is the old one:

Monkey Village-1-Monkey Beacon-Jungle Drums-Energy Beacon-Monkey Town-2-Monkey Fort-Radar Scanner-Monkey Intelligence Bureau-M.I.B Call to Arms
12. Gamerichie 2012-03-24 21:34
The High Energy Beacon channels energy into the form of a red-orange bolt that strikes a bloon, slowly cutting life from that bloon, especially if it is a zepplin.
13. Gamerichie 2012-03-24 21:35
This is useful if there are multiple zepplins in a row, clustered.
14. Gamerichie 2012-03-24 21:37
The Updating section is out, so check that area if you want to know about the all the new stuff!!!
15. Gamerichie 2012-03-26 17:32
This strategy does not really work.

"Always start your levels with easy mode to get the in game cash.
For these two you MUST level up for path one as the Glave lord, Ring of Fire and Arctic Wind/Viral Frost will eliminate any and all bloons in the area.
Do not waste money on snipers as they are expensive as hell and really aren't that useful once hundreds of bloons are pouring out."
16. Jackeea 2012-04-01 15:47
Don't waste money on super monkeys. 9 dart monkeys (2-3) + 1 fan club (hard mode) = about 10,500. 10 supers = 40,000. Difference of about 29,500. Loads. Enough for a couple of aircraft carriers (4-2), and with 3 lazer cannons (3-2) and a mortar (at least 2-2) got me to round 87 with no lost lives.
NB: It works.
17. Gamerichie 2012-04-01 16:18
Note: Super Monkey Fan Club only lasts for ten seconds, and now it just is a normal super monkey, not a triple super monkey that was way over-powered.
18. Gamerichie 2012-04-01 20:29
How did you die on round 87??? That level is a really easy one, even on medium mode.

What does NB mean???

19. steve 2012-04-10 01:38
at the end of the level on my computer, it does not turn to 'go' it stays on fast forward and i can't get it off PLEASE HELP ASAP
20. Gamerichie 2012-04-10 08:16
Sorry Steve, but I cannot help you with that. We think that, since this game uses flash to operate, your flash system may have froze, creating a computer malfunction. You could wait a few minutes, and if that doesn't work, close the window and try again, and if it says that your online program is not responding, then just simply wait for the program to close. BTD5 sometimes just malfunctions, no stopping it.

BIG UPDATE! NOW THERE WILL BE LINKS TO HOW TO COMPLETE DAILY CHALLENGES!!!!!
22. Gamerichie 2012-05-31 21:31
Someone asked me what's the best thing on btd5? Folks, I am sorry but there is no best thing per se on btd5. It really depends on what bloon you are facing.

ZOMG - Technological Terror (By cheapest and most damage, but that's for if they are in groups!)
23. Bob 2012-06-01 12:34
Snipers are actually pretty strong, but only after roud 85-90. There will be loads of MOAB-class bloons then. If you would upgrade the snipers 4-2, and set them to strong, they would help you out very well, especially if you have around 4 of them. They will shortly stop the strongest MOAB-claas bloon so your Super Monkeys and Bomb Towers could easly destroy them!
24. joeyankees33 2012-06-01 14:20
I have a question about gaining xp with some of my towers. For some reason, my dartling gunner and monkey apprentice and a few others wont gain xp with balloon pops and i cant figure out why. Is there something im missing?
25. Gamerichie 2012-06-01 21:32
Joeyankees33, I have one question for you. What rank are you? If your answer is over 60, or even 75, then it actually is because it is earning xp, only there needs to be a MASSIVE amount, so the bar moves slowly. If you hover over the bar, you can see it. I am at rank 60 and I need like 600000 xp, and each bloon layer popped equals one xp.
26. Nick 2012-06-02 07:00
My problem stems from the monkey village. I've gotten to round 88. My problem is I can't get the monkey village to level up. It starts leveling then gets stuck. I can't find anything on this topic.
27. Gamerichie 2012-06-02 18:36
If you are thinking about adding a comment or discussing it further, please go to BTD5 discussion, or check out the occasional challenges and questions page. Thank you!
28. Robert 2012-06-24 01:43
can you use more than 1 speciality building at the same time?
29. Gamerichie 2012-06-24 08:08
Robert, good question. I have to say, I don't really know now, and I think it is no because then some of them would cancel out each other, like the tack one and the spike one. If you wait a little bit, than it will soon come out somewhere in this guide!
30. Gamerichie 2012-06-27 20:52
BTD5 currently does not have these as towers from the other games.

-Spike-o-pult (This is now an upgrade)
-Monkey Beacon (This is now an upgrade)
-Beekeeper (This is now a special agent)

Tips
-Bomb Cannons are really useful in the game after Round 60 (However, they must be MOAB maulers or MOAB Assassins)
-Ice towers, do not underestimate them, for they will be useful eventually
-Dart Monkeys may become Super Monkeys, But for a short amount of time.
-Super monkeys may convert to Robo-Monkeys
-First MOAB comes on round 46
-Tack Shooters are awesome at first
-Banana Farms are best bought in rounds 8-18
-Upgrading a tower is usually better than buying more towers
-Watch out for round 42
-Round 60 comes the BFB
-MOAB stands for Massive Ornary Air Blimp
-BFB stands for Brutal Floating Behemoth
-ZOMG stands for Zeppelin Of Mighty Gargantuaness
-Ceramics take 10 hits to destroy the shell
-The hardest levels are usually around 70-80, 80 is a barrage of M.O.A.Bs, and 78 is when the first camo ceramics come while 76 is a VERY, VERY, VERY, Thick cluster of regen ceramics. Best weapon for this is Sun God, they aren't to expensive, easy to get one if you save from 50-55 or around 58. I got to 111 by using this strategy, having 3 Ray of Dooms, 7 Sun Gods, 5 Technological Terrors, 1 Deadly Precision, 1 Ninja Monkey no upgrades, a Summon Phoenix, 1 Scepter, an Aircraft Carrier and a Spiked Mine Factory.
-Whites are faster than Blacks, Ceramics more then Yellows;
they are the speed of pinks

35. Alex 2013-03-09 17:12
For the specialty buildings how do I get the other boomerang monkey things like double boomerangs?
36. Gamerichie 2013-03-09 19:04
I'm not quite sure what you were asking, so I'm giving two answers.

1-You have to upgrade the building.

2-Double Ranga is a NK coin purchase, which means you have to buy it with NK coins.
37. Richard 2013-04-14 08:46
Monkey apprentice with the wizards hat upgrade will make short work of all camp leads. Plus you throw the lightning on there and it destroys.
38. Gamerichie 2013-04-14 20:19
Richard, that is correct. That is the preferred method for about 70% of players (maybe more) over the Radar and Cannon method. Remember, it's all up to you. However the monkey appreantice can also help later on, as singular MOABs are quite weak against Dragon's Breath, and it is relatively cheaper.
39. TGirl 2013-05-30 16:48
How do you get past Level 63?
40. Gamerichie 2013-06-15 12:46
Level 63 should be easy, if you have a Sun God (which, if your strategy is good) you should be able to start saving up for one at around Level 40. Also, sorry about the late answer. (I haven't gotten much time to work on this)
41. bk 2013-07-10 19:35

42. Gamerichie 2013-07-13 16:36
bk, I don't think the information you got was correct. Do you think your towers may have destroyed some of the M.O.A.B's before they even came?
43. Geocasher 2014-02-21 09:59
What electronic thing (Iphone/Android/computer/ect.) did btd (original) come out for?
44. Geocasher 2014-02-21 10:01
Also in the # of bloons in each round, What does RBE stand for. And it would be nice if someone could update that just to see what comes. :) Thx.
45. Gamerichie 2014-02-21 11:03
-Bloons Tower Defense was released as a tower defense version on the computer of one of NK's already successful games, Bloons.

-RBE = Red Bloon Equivalent = How many hits from towers it takes to pop a certain bloon. (e.g. Rainbow RBE = 47 because Rainbow popped once turns to two zebra, then a zebra popped turns to a black and a white, and blacks and whites spawn two pinks each, pinks to yellow, then greens, blue, and finally reds. A red = 1 pop, thus a pink = 5 pops. white and black = 11 each, and since zebra = 1 pop + black and white, zebra = 11 + 11 + 1 = 23. Rainbow = 2 zebra + 1 pop. Zebra = 23. Rainbow RBE = 23 + 23 + 1 = 47.
46. Gamerichie 2014-04-05 11:16
Geocasher, also the updating will be difficult, but if you want to help, alright. In fact, anyone can help! We need as much help as possible.
47. Gamerichie 2014-04-06 12:57
We have taken note that some of the data on this page may or may not be 100% correct. If you find something incorrect, please bring it up to me ASAP.
48. Gamerichie 2014-04-06 12:58
Round 500 = 999 Z.O.M.G.

This may not be correct, so it is not put up there. /\
49. creator of shadows 2014-05-02 14:22
how do you get the healthey bananas because im @ rank 68 but @ rank 66 i had all towers upgrades exp requirements complete and i dont know how to get them plz help
50. Gamerichie 2014-05-02 22:44
@creator of shadows

Healthy Bananas is a premium upgrade available for 15 NK coins. NK coins can be obtained for free through leveling up on the website by playing games or by spending real money on NK coins.

Hope this helps!
