Recently we were looking for a sample content writer agreement template to use for our site. But what we found out was that a lot of such templates were way overcomplicated and full of legal terms. We just wanted to have something simple and easy to read for both parties. Thus, we drafted out our own content writer agreement. Below is the template. We are just sharing it so others in our situation might find it useful as well.
This agreement is entered into by and between TheCompany.com (hereinafter referred to as "we") and Joe Blow (hereinafter referred to as "you").
As a content writer, you need to write qualified articles based on the materials we provided.
We reserve the right to reject any article if we determine it is of low quality.
The article written by you will be exclusively owned by us and cannot be published elsewhere.
We will pay a set amount of money per accepted article, plus a performance bonus if we think the article may exceed our basic expectation, i.e., is positioned better commercially and could bring in more traffic.
You agree not to disclose our confidential information, or to directly or indirectly use our confidential information.
You may withdraw from being a content writer at any time by delivering a written notice.
We may terminate you from a writing project if you are not performing your obligations under this letter agreement.
