Some good news for Bellevue high schools. Five Bellevue high schools made Newsweek's annual "Best American High Schools" list. They are (with ranking scores):
International School, 12
Interlake, 48
Newport, 56
Bellevue, 148
Sammamish High School, 369
In the past years, all above five schools made the top 100 USA High school list, however this year Newsweek modified their ranking criteria, scoring each school on the following self-reported data:
--graduation rate
--college enrollment
--SAT and ACT scores
--AP, IB and Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) exam scores
--number of such courses offered per graduate.
One interesting stat, outside Bellevue school district, Bainbridge was the ONLY other high school in Washington state to be listed in the top 500 high schools in USA. Bainbridge Island High School is 370th.

The Newsweek ranking is based on six components: four-year on-time graduation rate, percent of graduates accepted to college, Advanced Placement (AP)/International Baccalaureate (IB)/Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) tests taken per student, average SAT and/or ACT scores, average AP/IB/AICE test scores, and AP courses offered per student.
