freelance: 这个词好多人都知道，就是自由职业，个人靠本事给人家做咨询工作等。但freelance是怎么来的呢？这里面有点意思，现在就说说。freelance的英文意思是"lancing freely"。因为古代打仗，都是用lance(长矛)的，而free lancing就是指的自己有lance的斗士，谁出钱就为谁打仗。英文把这些战士叫做"mercenary soldiers"，也就是，free men who used their skills with lances for any person who hired them。

sunk cost: 这个词网上有翻译成"沉没成本"的，但我觉得翻译成"已支付成本"更妥当。sunk就是沉没的意思，就是说，这笔钱已经花出去了，好比泼出去的水，收不回来了。这个是个经济学上的用语，英文的解释是: a sunk cost is a retrospective (past) cost that has already been incurred and cannot be recovered. 例句: Trying to salvage something like a sunk cost, is a no win. 这句话就是说，如果一开始就找错了人的话，后来再怎么努力的想挽救和对方的关系，都是徒劳的。所以，人要活在当前，而不能总想着过去。因为过去发生的事情，都是sunk cost。
